This award has special significance for us as an Austin-based company,” said Nerissa Sardi, Direct Health VP of Marketing. “Our vision for Direct Health is to build a healthcare product that will truly help people across the globe. This vision and the culture we are working to build for our company is rooted in the same spirit of hospitality and openness that makes Austin one of most admired cities in the world.”

Leigh Christie, Senior Vice President, Global Technology and Innovation, Greater Austin Chamber said in a statement. “Austin’s innovation community plays a vital role in our region’s economic success. We have grown to become a major hub for innovation in the country. This year’s A-List winners typify the best of Austin’s emerging, growth and scale companies. We are thrilled to recognize these outstanding businesses.”

Direct Health Model Disrupts Traditional Care

Direct Health is a HIPAA compliant mobile app that allows doctors to ‘unchain’ themselves from their practices. Medical providers can consult with patients when and where it is convenient for them and get paid for the services they provide. Direct Health is also rapidly expanding its business reach into new verticals including televeterinary health and telepsychiatry. Users like veterinarian Dr. Aaron Smiley and psychiatrist Dr. Thomas Kim are given unparalleled access to their client bases and now conduct a large portion of their business completely in-app.

Past winners of the A-list award include EverlyWell, a home-health testing provider featured on Shark Tank, and SailPoint, an identity governance platform that went public in the fall of 2017.
